Fabric Story — Donna Leigh

Donna Leigh takes inspiration from an original floral design by eighteenth-century British textile designer William Kilburn, whose richly detailed botanical illustrations helped shape the visual language of decorative fabrics in Britain.

Working during the late 1700s, Kilburn became known for creating beautifully layered floral patterns for muslin textiles, often placing delicate blooms against darker, richly coloured grounds. This contrast gave his work a distinctive warmth and depth — elegant, natural, and quietly expressive.

Donna Leigh reflects that same spirit.

Softly rendered florals appear almost hand-painted in watercolour, unfolding gently across a deeper background. The print carries both the romance of an English garden and a quiet sense of timelessness — delicate yet enduring.

At Bōlife, we were drawn to the feeling of flowers quietly blooming rather than loudly announcing themselves.
